The Exam
The Exam is divided into four parts: multiple choice, short answer, document based question (dbq) and long essay question (LEQ)
Multiple Choice Questions 40%
The multiple choice section will account for 40% of your exam score. You will have 55 minutes to answer 55 stimulus-based questions.

Short Answer Questions (SAQ) 20%
The short answer (SAQ) section will account for 20% of your exam score. You will have 40 minutes to answer 3 short answer questions that are each divided into 2-3 distinct tasks.

Document-Based Question (DBQ) 25%
The document-based question (DBQ) is the second most important part of the APUSH exam, weighing in at 25% of your total score. You will be given seven documents to analyze and will be expected to write a thesis-driven essay using evidence from the documents and your knowledge of US History. You will have 60 total minutes (15 minute reading period and 45 minute writing period) to complete the DBQ.

Long Essay Question (LEQ) 15%
The long essay question (LEQ) section will account for 15% of your exam score. You will have a choice between two questions that address the same historical thinking skill. You will have 40 minutes to complete the essay. You will also get to choose between three options, each focusing on a different range of time periods:

The DBQ is assessed using a 7 point Rubric and the leq is assessed using a 6 point rubric. the link to the AP rubric is below
